You wound up where?
Ha! I’ve heard that a few times since I have made my way to Oklahoma City…The Big Friendly. I’m pleased to announce that I am now a Reporter/Anchor at FOX affiliate KOKH-TV in Oklahoma City. I think I have found my home for a while and so far I LOVE IT.
But why would you leave San Diego?!??
Good question again. It’s called “passion.” After I left The Daily Buzz, I was really trying to figure out how to redefine my life, my career and my passion. Part of that rediscovery was looking at my career and follow a natural path. Most people in my industry follow a career behind-the-scenes and I was offered an opportunity at a great station to be an Executive Producer. I think I did pretty well with it but inside, I knew that wasn’t what I was supposed to be doing in my life. Since I saw Danny Bonaduce on the Mike Douglas Show when I was about 5-years-old, I knew I was supposed to be on TV. I have been extremely fortunate to be able to follow my dreams by doing television, movies, music videos, etc. I was able to learn a tremendous amount as an Executive Producer. So much so, I think it made me a better on-air talent. I realize what goes on behind the camera and why things happen the way they happen. That is a learning opportunity that most on-air talent do not get to appreciate like I did.
What are you going to be doing on-air?
This is my favorite part of this post. I get to tell you what I get to do! Ready for this? I get to BE MYSELF!!! Very excited about that. Basically, I’m the guy on the morning show that gets to go out and show viewers what’s going on in Oklahoma. I was told to just have fun. They trust me to not to go over-the-line and just bring some energy to the morning show. I was able to do that for 10 years on The Buzz, so I am certain it will be no problem at all at FOX 25. Since I have weather and anchoring experience, I will also be doing some of that at the station.
Is it a big adjustment?
No, not at all! Matter of fact, it’s actually nice to say “yes ma’am” or “no ma’am” and not get a “Don’t call me that!” (Sorry, its just manners, lady. I’m not disrespecting you… quite the opposite) I love being around Southern Hospitality again. I’m also probably overly excited to fill up my Cadillac for $23 worth of gas.
Can I watch you? I mean, I will never admit to doing it, but can I really get my Mitch fix?
Sure you can. But admitting you have a problem is the first step. The second step is going to www.okcfox.com Monday-Friday from 6-10am Central. You can watch live there. I’ll also be posting a cornucopia of videos.
Can I say that I am very humbled and grateful that I have fans that have stuck with me through the years? I really do have the best fans in the world. I have the best friends in the world too. I am extremely grateful to those that have given me opportunities to be myself. I have been given an opportunity again from people that realize my talent and want me to succeed. I am extremely grateful for that. I did a lot of re-evaluating my life both physically and mentally. Losing weight is only an outer result of what I’ve been trying to do with my life. Mentally, I am, and still am working on just being “happy.” YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW YOUR PASSION! Mine is being on-air and making people laugh. It’s my goal to have Oklahomans wake up in a good mood or a chuckle in the morning. If I can do that, I’ve succeeded. Thank you ALL!
One last thing…
