As part of FOX 25‘s GET PINK Campaign, we are bringing to light the importance of screenings and learning more about Breast Cancer. Not just in the month of October, but FOX 25 will highlight the awareness campaign every month.
Here’s something you probably didn’t even consider: Men can get Breast Cancer too. I had the opportunity to meet Anthony Merka, a Breast Cancer Survivor. Since this story aired, Anthony tells me that other men have come forward wanting more information to help as well and there has been interest from national tv shows to highlight Anthony’s story.
Just this month, Governor Mary Fallin signed a proclamation declaring the week of October 16 as “Male Breast Cancer Awareness Week.”
Anthony also became one of Real Men Wear Pink Ambassadors with the American Cancer Society. He’s also raising money as well as awareness for Breast Cancer Research and Awareness through the Making Strides Campaign. If you’d like to donate, head here.
