Mark stopped by the show today to talk about his recovery after a major stroke. This guy is the epitome of class. I actually met Mark about two years ago. When I heard he had moved to Orlando, I dropped an email to him and said welcome to the town. He promptly wrote back and invited me out to lunch. At the time, I was being courted with a TV station in New York City and I actually asked for some advice. He took time out of his busy schedule and mentored me somewhat.
While we were having lunch, I kept thinking to myself when I was WTVY-TV (a CBS Affiliate) I would always think how cool of a guy I thought he was on CBS This Morning. The guy made interviewing people seem so easy. He was on that show for 15 years. To be sitting in front of him just shooting the breeze really meant a lot.

Mark suffered a stroke and is working on his recovery. He is currently touring the country teaching the signs of strokes and its prevention. He is also working on a book.

If you ever meet Mark, just know this…he is just as genuine as you see him on television. I wish I were more like that.

Rock forth, Mitch

  1. I don’t know what I’m doing here. I think I might be posting the same comment twice. Anyway, what I wanted to say is that you’re real. You are the same guy in person as you are in front of the camera. That’s why you’re still in the business. Keep it up.

  2. Mitch-You lead quite a charmed life as far as I can tell from reading your blog. You take a “vacation” from TV only to jump around the nation on comedy tours and such and in your “down time” while looking for jobs, you run into celebrities and they invite you out for lunches. You gotta let me know if you’re ever in the Seattle area; I missed you when you were in Madison, WI, so I gotta meet you in person if you’re out here sometime.
